LYRICS
[Intro]
I’m just trying to smoke my weed
Grow myself a money tree
Free my mind and live at peace before I R.I.P. (yeah)
[Bridge]
Would you still love me if I backed down
If I didn’t have my money would you back out (woah)
She love it when I blow her fucking back out
She would rather pass out than to tap out (no)
What’s the difference between telling lies and peace of mind
Can’t distinguish between hella lies and being right
And fox news only televise when people die
And tell the nation those other guys gonna terrorize (no)
[Verse 1]
Music just an ad space baby
Remember suit’s always get their damn way baby
Would you love me if I didn’t have a damn say baby
But drip could be seen from the fucking space station (woah oh)
Afta on late night again
Tabloid covers every date night I’m in (woah)
All from the sway in my pen
If i back down would you love me my friend (no, no)
[Refrain]
I just wanna smoke my weed
Live my life in total peace
Grow myself a money tree before I R.I.P.
[Bridge 2]
Would you still love me if I backed down
If I didn’t have my money would you back out (woah)
She love it when I blow her fucking back out
She would rather pass out than to tap out (no)
What’s the difference between telling lies and peace of mind
Can’t distinguish between hella lies and being right
And fox news only televise when people die
And tell the nation those other guys gonna terrorize (no)
[Refrain]
I just wanna smoke my weed
Live my life in total peace
Grow myself a money tree before I R.I.P.
[Verse 2]
Father forgive me for all my sins
I’ve been trying hard to further myself from lying grins
(father forgive me for all my sins)
The lion grins, but behind the scenes I’m ill, I almost slit both my wrists and
Furthermore I thought about doing it more than once
A couple old friends decided to switch up (switched up)
Decided switch up, real friends how many of us, how many of us like (woah)
Now all I want is a moment of clarity
No more reasonable doubt, so give the blueprints to me
Or hand a brother a seed, no dot, rock or Ali
But I’ll grow a money tree up use it to roll my weed up
Father i gotta free up all of the Persian people
Father I gotta free up mind soul and spirit
Father I gotta free up, tell me if you can hear us
S-M-W self made wonderful
[Bridge 3]
Would you still love me if I backed down
If I didn’t have my money would you back out (no)
she love it when I blow her fuck back out
[Outro]
S-M-W self-made wonderful
(S-M-W Double Me)
S-M-W self-made wonderful

OVERVIEW
S.M.W. is a hip hop/R&B song by Afta Hill from his upcoming project Tehranto. The production of the track follows a consistent motif of this project by building a Toronto style beat and delivery around a sample taken from Afta’s Persian roots. The unique sound this creates reflects both the duality of Afta’s upbringing, and the themes expressed in the lyrics.
The chorus of the song goes over Afta’s simplest desires, each representing a broader human need. Smoking weed being an example of recreation and fun, total peace referring to safety and good health for himself and his loved ones, and growing a money tree being a metaphor for financial freedom and generational wealth.
The first verse of the song expresses the artist’s frustration when seeing many of the greatest pitfalls of human society, such as the manipulation of media and information, the selfishness and greed of people, as well as the romantic and sexual conflicts between men and women. While Afta shows that he can see beyond the veil and recognize these issues, he also implies that he may not have the means to solve them, as he is only one man.
In contrast, the second verse which is accompanied by a swift change in delivery and breakdown of the beat is a look inward at Afta’s own missteps and struggles. He admits to battling suicidal thoughts behind closed doors, and having a falling out with old friends. Furthermore, Afta touches on his guilt as an Iranian in the Western world, seeing his people back in Iran being killed on the news and being helpless to save them. The song ends while introducing an alternative definition for S.M.W. when Afta sings “Self Made Wonderful”, which previously would be assumed to stand for “Smoke My Weed”. This again drives home the concept of duality that the record plays with.
